2027 Solar Eclipse Tour Itinerary

Our eclipse adventure is packed with unique experiences and stunning sights, all hand-picked by me, Tristina, a Spain lover and 8X eclipse chaser!

Here’s a detailed look at our 2027 eclipse trip itinerary:

Day 1: Fly to Madrid (July 23)

Depart from your chosen gateway airport for your international flight to Madrid. Relax and enjoy inflight meals and services as you prepare for your adventure. Need help with flights? We’re happy to assist—or you can plan to meet us directly in Madrid.

Day 2: Madrid Arrival (July 24)

Welcome to Madrid! Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to relax or explore at your own pace. Choose from an optional segway or tapas tour. Overnight in Madrid.

Day 3: Madrid (July 25)

Start your day with breakfast before embarking on a half-day guided city tour with a local expert. Discover highlights such as Gran Vía, Cibeles, and the iconic Plaza Mayor  (No entrance fees included). The afternoon is free for you to wander on your own. Join us for a welcome cocktail in the evening. Overnight in Madrid.

Day 4: Madrid – Córdoba – Sevilla (July 26)

After breakfast, head south through the heart of Don Quixote’s La Mancha, passing by vast vineyards. Stop briefly in Puerto Lapice, a charming town steeped in literary history. Journey through the Despeñaperros natural gorge, entering Andalucía, a region rich in history and culture. Upon arrival in Córdoba, visit the iconic Mosque-Cathedral and stroll the narrow, winding streets of the Jewish Quarter. Afterward, drive for about two hours to reach Seville. Overnight in Seville.

Day 5: Sevilla (Jul 27)

Enjoy the day at leisure to explore Seville at your own pace. In the evening, experience the passion and energy of a traditional Flamenco show. Departure time: ~7:30 PM. Overnight in Seville.

Day 6: Sevilla – Ronda – Costa del Sol (Jul 28)

After breakfast, head south to the stunning cliffside city of Ronda, known as the birthplace of modern bullfighting. Enjoy free time to admire this charming town and the marvelous view of the surrounding valley and mountain range. In the afternoon, continue to the Costa del Sol (Torremolinos), renowned for its beautiful landscapes, fabulous beaches, cuisine, and interesting traditions. This region is one of the most popular and modern international tourist destinations. Overnight in Costa del Sol.

Day 7: Costa del Sol (July 29)

Spend a day at leisure, or join an otional tour (not included).

Option 1: Day Trip to Gibraltar – USD 125
Take the opportunity to visit the southernmost point of Europe, Gibraltar. Discover landmarks in this British Overseas Territory, including the famous St. Michael’s Caves and the Ape’s Reserve. Enjoy free time to explore the charming old town’s narrow streets and indulge in tax-free shopping.

Option 2: Day Trip to Nerja and Frigiliana – USD 95
Embark on a scenic journey to the coastal town of Nerja, known for its stunning beaches and the incredible Nerja Caves. Continue to Frigiliana, a picturesque white-washed village nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara. Wander through its cobbled streets, admire its vibrant flowers, and experience the traditional Andalusian charm.

Day 8: Costa del Sol – Tangier (July 30)

After breakfast, depart along the scenic Costa del Sol, passing through internationally known towns such as Marbella and Puerto Banús. Continue your journey to either Algeciras or Tarifa, where you’ll board the ferry for a short but fascinating crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco. Upon arrival, disembark, complete customs formalities, and continue by coach to Tangier. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Tangier.

Day 9: Tangier (July 31)

Eat breakfast at the hotel, then head out for a city tour through Tangier and its surroundings. This includes Cap Spartel, located at the extreme northwest of Africa, and the famous Hercules Caves—which are linked to the legend of Hercules separating Africa from Europe. You may also visit the historic Kasbah district near the port, explore the old Medina with its craftsmanship shops, and admire the stunning minaret overlooking the sea. Along the way, you’ll pass the Grand Socco and Mendoubia Park, home to ancient dragon skeletons. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight in Tangier.

Day 10: Tangier – Chefchaouen (Aug 1)

Depart for Chefchaouen, or Chaouen in Berber, one of the most picturesque towns nestled in the Rif Mountains. This mountain range marks the last natural barrier before the Mediterranean and the Iberian Peninsula. Chefchaouen is known for its shaded valleys and its iconic blue-and-white Medina. These houses featuring blue doors, wrought iron windows, and tiled roofs. The lively local markets showcase colorful goods, often displayed by locals dressed in traditional attire. Chefchaouen offers a unique charm, blending Arab-Andalusian art and traditions, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 11: M’DIQ (Aug 2 – ECLIPSE DAY)

Early morning transfer to M’diq. Witness the awe-inspiring total solar eclipse from 8:40 AM to 11:01 AM. The duration of totality from here is approximately 4 minutes and 52.7 seconds. Please note that eclipse visibility is subject to weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed.

Afterward, eat lunch together to celebrate the eclipse before returning to Chefchaouen. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore at your leisure. Enjoy dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 12: Chefchaouen – Rabat – Casablanca (Aug 3)

After breakfast, travel through Morocco’s capital city, Rabat, where you can opt to enjoy a delicious seafood lunch. Continue to Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital, for a panoramic tour. Highlights include the Habous district, the Royal Palace, Mohamed V Square, the residential area of Anfa, and the exterior of the impressive Hassan II Mosque.

In the evening, enjoy a special farewell dinner at the iconic Rick’s Café in Casablanca. (Smart casual dress required.) Overnight in Casablanca.

Day 13: Depart from Casablanca (Aug 4)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Eclipse Tour FAQs

Before booking this 2027 eclipse group tour, please familiarize yourself with our FAQs:

1. Can I book my own flights?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to book your own flights, or we can assist you in finding the best options. The quote listed is a group rate from NYC, and our tour provider can help book your connecting flight(s) in the fall of 2026.

2. Can I book land-only now and decide on airfare later?

Yes, you can book land-only and add airfare later. Please make a note when booking of your interest in flights. Once flights are available, Sabine at Indus Travels will provide details and pricing so you can make an informed decision. Note that arrival/departure transfers are only included if you book group flights.

3. When will flight details be available?

We expect flight schedules and carrier information about 10–11 months before the tour.

4. Can I upgrade or select my seat with group airfare?

Yes, upgrades and seat selections are possible. Just note your preference in the special request section. Once flights are released, Sabine will reach out with options and pricing.

5. Is travel insurance necessary?

Travel insurance can cover unexpected events. Love at First Adventure hosts the trip but is not responsible for anything covered by travel insurance. This includes things like trip cancellations, lost luggage, airline delays, or medical emergencies. Please choose a policy that fits your needs—they even have “cancel for any reason” options. We are happy to assist you with purchasing travel insurance.

6. What is the cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel and have not purchased travel insurance, please refer to our tour’s provider’s website for specific deadlines and refund conditions. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit, but again, please refer to their site for policy details.

7. How many people will be in the group?

We aim to keep our groups small, typically around 25 participants, allowing for a more intimate experience.

8. Can the itinerary change?

While the tour provider strives to stick to the planned itinerary, certain factors—like weather or unforeseen circumstances—may require adjustments. Rest assured, any changes will be communicated promptly.

9. What age group is this tour for?

Our tours are adults only and open to a wide range of ages. We’ve had travelers from college age to retirees join us on past eclipse adventures—anyone with an eclipse on their bucket list! Please note: European/North African travel often involves stairs, uneven footing, hills, and limited elevator access. All participants must be fully ambulatory and able to meet the physical demands of the trip. Reach out with any questions. This tour is not appropriate for families with young children or infants.

10. What are the hotels like?

We’ve worked with our tour provider to choose superior hotels for our entire eclipse trip. You can expect 4* star hotels with the exception of Chefchaouen, where we’ve found a wonderful 3* hotel. Do note that each country rates their hotels differently. You can see the hotels on the tour website under the ‘Accommodation’ tab. (In case that these hotels become unavailable, our tour provider will choose comparable options.)

11. Can I pay the deposit with a credit card?

Yes! You can use a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, etc.) to pay the $500 deposit and the remaining balance.

12. Can I request a double or twin bed setup?

You may indicate your room preference in the special request/notes section when booking. If no preference is listed, couples will be assigned a double bed, and twin beds will be given to guests with different last names (or assigned based on availability).

13. If I book as a single and later find a roommate, can I change?

If you find someone to share a room with later, the single supplement will be removed and refunded if already paid. (If you’d like to be matched with a roommate, please let me know at tristina@loveatfirstadventure.com, and I’ll let you know if anyone is looking!)

14. When will we know where we’re viewing the eclipse from?

Viewing details will be confirmed about 10 months before departure.

15. Will guides give recommendations during free time?

Yes, local guides will provide tips, suggestions, and answer any questions about exploring on your own.

16. If I book my own flight, can I still get airport transfers?

Transfers are included only with group flights. If you book your own airfare, we can arrange private transfers at an additional cost, depending on flight time. However, we recommend taking a taxi (about $35) for the best price.

17. How can I stay connected with the group?

You’ll receive the contact details for our local partner, who will be available throughout the tour in case of emergencies or logistical questions. I’ll also create a WhatsApp group shortly before departure so we can all stay connected.

18. Can I add optional tours later if I don’t want to decide now?

Yes. Optional tours can be added up to 60 days before departure. Please note that pricing is an estimate as 2027 tour schedules are not out yet. Indus will let us know if there are any changes or additional optional tours.

19. What kind of transportation is used for optional tours?

Most optional tours are seat-in-coach (SIC), meaning you may share the experience with others. Some include hotel pickup, like the Douro River Cruise, while others may require a short walk or taxi to the meeting point. Tours will be conducted in English.

19. I have food allergies. Can you arrange special meals for me?

Many meals are on your own, so you’ll have flexibility to choose allergy-friendly options (Ask your tour guide for recommendations, too!). For meals included in the tour, we can request accommodations (Please let us know your needs in advance so we can before you book.)
