Why Travel With Us

Daniel Oppliger has been chasing eclipses since 1991, leading and coordinating groups across the globe. His expertise in pinpointing the best viewing locations, interpreting weather patterns, and managing the complex logistics of eclipse travel means you can trust every detail is thoughtfully planned.
Daniel runs Tropical Sails Corp alongside his wife, Shirley, combining decades of eclipse experience with a genuine love of travel and cultural exploration. While eclipse chasing is what first sparked the adventure, these tours are also about slowing down, sharing incredible places with like-minded travelers, and experiencing destinations like Morocco in a deeper, more meaningful way.
From wandering through Chefchaouen’s blue streets to celebrating totality together near the coast, this journey blends expert eclipse planning with the kind of shared travel memories that keep people coming back year after year.
The 2027 Eclipse: Path of Totality in Morocco

The August 2, 2027 total solar eclipse will cross North Africa, with Morocco offering prime viewing locations. The northern region near M’diq is selected for its elevated terrain, typically clear summer weather, and low light pollution. These factors combine to provide clear, unobstructed views of the eclipse.
Totality in this area is expected to last about 4 minutes and 27 seconds, allowing ample time to observe key phases such as the sun’s corona and the diamond ring effect. Daniel’s choice of this site reflects his extensive scouting and understanding of the best conditions for eclipse observation. Participants will receive expert commentary and eclipse-safe viewing glasses. Staying in Chefchaouen before eclipse day also allows the group to remain positioned near the path of totality.
