2026 Solar Eclipse Tour Itinerary

Our eclipse adventure is packed with unique experiences and stunning sights, all hand-picked by me, Tristina, a Spain enthusiast and 8X eclipse chaser!

Here’s a detailed look at our eclipse trip itinerary:

Day 1: Fly to Madrid (Aug 2)

Depart from your selected gateway airport for your international flight to Madrid. Enjoy inflight meals and services as you prepare for your adventure. We can assist you with booking your flights, or you can choose to meet us in Madrid.

Day 2: Madrid Arrival (Aug 3)

Welcome to Madrid! After being transferred to your hotel, spend the rest of the day at leisure to relax or explore the vibrant city. Join us for a welcome cocktail hour in the evening. Overnight in Madrid.

Day 3: Madrid (Aug 4)

Start your day with breakfast before embarking on a half-day guided city tour with a local expert. Discover highlights such as Gran Vía, Cibeles, and the iconic Plaza Mayor  (No entrance fees included). The afternoon is free for you to wander and explore at your own pace. Overnight in Madrid.

Day 4: Madrid – Ávila – Salamanca (Aug 5)

After breakfast, you’ll board our coach and visit Ávila, remarkably preserved medieval walls., before continuing to Salamanca, a historic university city. Enjoy a guided tour of Salamanca, including a visit to a local ham-making establishment, and have the evening free to stroll through the lively Plaza Mayor—one of the most beautiful in Spain. Overnight in Salamanca.

Day 5: Salamanca – Porto (Aug 6)

Following breakfast, depart for Porto, Portugal. Experience the charm of Porto, located on the Duoro River, with a local guide. Visit a Port winery for a tasting (2 tastings included). Overnight in Porto.

Day 6: Porto (Aug 7)

Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Porto’s sights or choose from optional day tours, including the Averio & Paiva Walkways Tour or the Best of Braga & Guimaraes. Those staying in Porto may join the Six Bridges Panoramic Cruise on the Douro. Overnight in Porto.

Day 7: Porto – Santiago de Compostela (Aug 8)

Depart for Santiago de Compostela, exploring the castle and historical center of Viana do Castelo on the way. Spend the afternoon at leisure in Santiago, a major pilgrimage site and end point of the Camino de Santiago. Overnight in Santiago de Compostela.

Day 8: Santiago de Compostela (Aug 9)

After breakfast, join a guided tour of Santiago de Compostela, including a visit to the magnificent cathedral. Taste local tetilla cheese at a nearby factory, known for producing one of Galicia’s most famous cheeses (tasting included). Overnight in Santiago de Compostela.

Day 9: Santiago de Compostela – Lugo – León (Aug 10)

Travel to Lugo, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour, including the UNESCO-listed cathedral, part of the Camino de Santiago. Continue to León for a guided tour featuring the stunning 13th-century Gothic cathedral and Casa Botines, designed by the renowned architect Antonio Gaudí. Overnight in León.

Day 10: León – Burgos (Aug 11)

Depart for Burgos, our basecamp for the eclipse. Burgos is famous for its medieval architecture and the stunning French Gothic cathedral. Enjoy a local guided tour followed by free time to savor pintxos in this charming city. Overnight in Burgos.

Day 11: Burgos (Aug 12 – ECLIPSE DAY)

Enjoy a free day to relax and prepare for the eclipse! We’ll view the eclipse nearby with totality occurring at 8:28 p.m. The eclipse will last just under 2 minutes. Please note that eclipse visibility is subject to weather conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Overnight in Burgos.

Day 12: Burgos – Segovia – Madrid (Aug 13)

Following breakfast, depart for Madrid with a stop in Segovia for a guided tour before discovering the Roman aqueduct, cathedral, and Alcazar on your own. After arriving in Madrid, enjoy free time until a farewell dinner accompanied by a flamenco show. Overnight in Madrid.

Day 13: Depart from Madrid (Aug 14)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Absolutely! You’re welcome to book your own flights, or we can assist you in finding the best options. The quote listed is a group rate from NYC, and our tour provider can help book your connecting flight(s).

2. Is travel insurance necessary?
Travel insurance can cover unexpected events. Love at First Adventure plans and hosts the trip but is not responsible for anything covered by travel insurance. This includes things like trip cancellations, lost luggage, airline delays, or medical emergencies. Please choose a policy that fits your needs—they even have “cancel for any reason” options. We are happy to assist you with purchasing travel insurance.

3. What is the cancellation policy?
