Málaga is a medium-sized city on Spain’s Costa del Sol that offers a relaxing mix of culture, and history, seaside views, and with it—some amazing shopping opportunities.

Having been to Málaga three times, I’ve discovered Málaga shopping opportunities for everyone. Last time, I spent two weeks going to the different shopping centers, taking pictures, verifying opening hours, trying restaurants, etc. for this guide.

From bustling shopping streets in the city center to malls within walking distance of Old Town to modern shopping centers, Málaga caters to every shopper’s taste and budget.

In this article, I’ll review the best shopping areas, shopping centers, and shopping malls in  Málaga. From department stores to Málaga outlet malls to Málaga’s shops featuring the city’s best designers, quintessential Spanish stores, international fashion brands, and more!

Best Málaga Shopping Areas

If you’re staying in Málaga’s old town and want to go shopping in the Málaga city center, you’re in luck! There are several distinct streets right in the center that will allow you to explore a variety of styles, brands, and local specialties without needing transportation.

Let’s review the best areas in Málaga for shopping.

1. Calle Larios

If you’re looking for a typical European shopping experience with all your favorite brands like Mango, Zara, Cazeldonia, and Massimo Dutti, head straight to Calle Larios (Full name: Calle Marqués de Larios).

Fortunately, as Málaga’s central shopping street, Calle Larios is hard to miss!

Made of an elegant marble walkway, Calle Larios is often decorated according to the season (The Christmas lights on Calle Larios are always fun to see!) and also features rotating art installations.

Along with shoppers’ favorite clothes shops in Málaga, there are multiple lingerie and cosmetics stores. Plus, there are several banks for when you need to take out more shopping money!

Before you go, treat yourself to a well-deserved coffee and snack at the famous Lepanto cafeteria. Or, try one of several takeaway ice cream shops, immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere that extends well into the evening.

Open from 10 am to 9 pm, Calle Larios is fun to explore all day long. For a more tranquil experience, however, plan your visit early in the morning or during Spanish lunchtime from 2 pm to 4 pm.

2. Calle Nueva

Running parallel to Calle Larios, you’ll find Calle Nueva. Before Calle Larios took center stage, pedestrianized Calle Nueva was the city’s main shopping destination.

This bustling shopping street, (which I actually prefer to Calle Larios) has both affordable Spanish shops and international brands.

Whether you seek high-end fashion, wellness products, quirky gifts from Flying Tiger Copenhagen, or a unique accessory, Calle Nueva undoubtedly has a fantastic store waiting for you.

Be aware that Calle Nueva can get busy. To avoid the crowds, consider visiting early in the day or during the Spanish lunchtime lull (2-4 pm).

When you’re looking for fun shops in Málaga, head to Calle Nueva to find some real local gems that will remind you of your trip to Spain each time you wear them!

3. Calle Especería/Cisneros

Calle Especería, which turns into Calle Cisneros, is a captivating Málaga shopping street. Flanked by historic apartment buildings, this narrow pathway is for those seeking authentic Spanish fashion.

Along these streets, you can discover chic Spanish clothing, flamenco dresses, and traditional footwear like espadrilles from both large-scale stores and family-owned boutiques.

During your Málaga shopping spree, take a moment to indulge in one of the charming dining options lining the avenue. Golden Tips offers specialty teas and coffees while Empanadas Malvón tempts with traditional Spanish pastries. Of course, you can always take a break at Starbucks on the Plaza de la Constitución, too!

Keep in mind that many smaller Málaga shops close for lunch, typically from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Calle Especería and Calle Cisneros are only a few blocks long, yet embody the vibrant spirit of  Málaga. Don’t miss them!

4. Calle Compañía

Parallel to Calle Especería and close to Calle Larios, Calle Compañía has a mix of independent Málaga stores, cozy bars, and inviting cafés.

As you explore this picturesque street in the heart of Málaga’s city center, you’ll notice unique shops that cater to various interests.

For example, the Carmen Thyssen Museum gift shop is a treasure trove of unusual gifts for art enthusiasts. And, Mapas y Compañía is a small travel bookshop that offers an extensive collection of maps, jigsaws, and games in a fun and inspiring setting.

Don’t miss the JOAN Vintage Charity Shop – Fundación Cudeca, too. Here, you can find unique vintage bargains while supporting a meaningful cause. It’s located on Calle Prta Nueva, sandwiched in between Calle Compañía and Calle Especería.

After uncovering one-of-a-kind finds and experiencing the local character of Málaga, treat yourself to a well-deserved break at any of the international restaurants on the surrounding streets. Take your pick between Greek, Italian, Thai, Spanish, or vegan food, just to name a few.

Head to Calle Compañía to immerse yourself in a historical ambiance, shop at unique stores, and savor yummy food in its inviting eateries.

5. Calle Andrés Pérez

Calle Andrés Pérez is a narrow shopping street tucked away off Plaza de los Mártires in Málaga. Newly re-paved, it’s a treasure trove of unique boutiques, art galleries, tea shops, and second-hand finds.

Discover hidden gems like La Casa del Cardenal, one of Málaga’s finest antique shops. The Mahatma Showroom is full of traditional children’s toys and an art gallery, particularly fun if you’re exploring Málaga with kids.

Be sure to turn on Calle Pozos Dulces, where a captivating vertical garden is tucked away around the corner. (It’s called the Vertical en la Plaza del Pericón Garden.)

For traditional tapas, stop by the Las Merchanas 2, a Málaga taberna full of religious decor.

Best Málaga Shopping Centers & Málaga Malls

You´ll find an awesome variety of malls for shopping in Málaga, Spain. Some of them are within walking distance of the city center, and others require the use of public transport or renting a car in Spain.

Visiting Málaga malls is great because they have all the stores you love, affordable food, parking, and air conditioning/heating (if indoors). Often, they have a large grocery and or big box store attached for any basics, too.

Here’s our round-up of the best Málaga shopping malls and Málaga shopping centers: 

6. Centro Comercial Larios Centro

The Larios shopping center in Málaga is a must-visit shopping destination in Málaga if you’re looking for popular global brands like Zara, H&M, and Primark. Larios Centro is located just 15 minutes from the center of Málaga by foot. 

This two-story mall has been recently renovated and includes everything you need including popular fashion brands, an Eroski Contigo (similar to a Walmart in Spain), a Fnac for your technology and cultural needs, as well as a handful of dining options including 100 Montaditos, Block House, Dunkin’, and McDonalds.

Plus, the Larios shopping centre Málaga has air conditioning, which is a must in the summer!

If you’re arriving by car, there’s a connected two-story parking garage where you can safely park your vehicle. Parking is free for 3 hours if you spend 6€.

As for public transport, bus lines 4, 14, and 1 as well as Metro 1 and 2 stop nearby.

Larios Centro is typically open Monday–Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm (Open Sundays in the summer, too). However, restaurants are open as late as 12:30 and Sundays.

7. Muelle Uno

Muelle Uno is a modern waterfront complex in the Port of Málaga set between the Centre Pompidou Málaga and the lighthouse.

Since 2011, this open-air shopping and dining destination has been welcoming visitors with its high-end stores like Lacoste and Primor and delectable cuisine at both fine restaurants, stationary food trucks, and fast food favorites.

But, Muelle Uno is not just another strip mall. With live music, activities, and exhibitions, Muelle Uno is a vibrant part of Málaga’s port.

Just a short stroll from Playa da Malagueta, take a break from a day at the beach by relaxing at a waterfront cocktail bar, exploring the lovely gardens, strolling the palm-lined walkway, and spotting the moored yachts.

You may also want to visit in the late afternoon to shop and then enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Cathedral and the Mirador Princess ferris wheel. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the iconic lighthouse and the Chapel of Muelle Uno.

Muelle Uno is open daily from midday to midnight. You can easily walk there from the cruise port or Old Town. There’s also a parking garage at the entrance to the shopping area.

8. Vialia Centro Comercial

If you’re arriving in Málaga by train, you can’t miss the Vialia Centro Comercial. Why? Because this cool Málaga shopping mall is connected to the Málaga María Zambrano Train Station!

As the newest mall in the city, you’ll be happy to see Vialia is modern and clean.

With 80+ stores including fashion favorites like Calzedonia, Mango, and Pull&Bear, as well as the convenient Media Markt for all your electronics needs, this mall is great for perusing before your train leaves.

Have a meal before you go at one of the many fast food options like Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Dunkin’, VIPS, or 100 Montaditos.

If you have a family, you can also catch a movie at the 13-screen cinema, drop your kids at the arcade, or visit the indoor playground.

Vialia Centro Comercial is open Monday–Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm (closed on Sundays) and is easily accessible by public transit.

9. Plaza Mayor

Plaza Mayor is a spacious open-air shopping mall located just minutes from the Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. With an abundance of desirable shops, a movie theater, and great dining options, you can easily spend a half day exploring everything it has to offer.

Renovated in 2020, Plaza Mayor has become a sought-after destination for visitors to Málaga. From Nike Factory Store to Sketchers, Oysho to Women’s Secret, and Misako to Parfois, you’ll find a wide range of shops in Plaza Mayor with many popular names here, some at discount prices.

The shopping center has a variety of international fast-food and fast-casual favorites from Popeye’s to Tako Away to Hits & Noodles. But the best part is the atmosphere—all the restaurants are arranged around a large plaza (with a playground) reminiscent of what you’ll find in many city centers in Spain.

If you’re looking for a more elevated dining experience, Plaza Mayor has that, too! Just head to another small plaza where you’ll find a variety of restaurants with table service, including the highly-rated Amigos Málaga and Block House.

Within the same complex, you’ll find the McArthur Glen Outlet Mall, the best outlet shopping in Málaga. Plus, there’s another section of the mall with global favorites like Zara, H&M, and C&A. A large Mercadona supermarket rounds out the wonderful selection of stores.

Plaza Mayor is open Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 10 pm. It’s also open on Sundays in the summer and other holidays. To get there, park your rental car at the shopping mall Málaga for free. Or, take bus lines 10, M-126, or M-123 or Cercanias to Plaza Mayor.

If you visit one mall outside the city center in Málaga, I highly recommend Plaza Mayor—it’s hands-down the best shopping mall in Málaga!

10. McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Málaga

Located on the eastern side of Plaza Mayor, you’ll find the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet.

Wondering what to wear in Málaga? No worries! Indulge in world-famous Málaga luxury shopping at off-season rates, giving you the chance to revamp your wardrobe without breaking the bank.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet has over 100 brands to choose from with discounts up to 70% off! Find iconic fashion brands like Prada, Birkenstock, and Calvin Klein, to name a few.

After all that shopping (and saving!) you’ll surely find yourself in need of a break. Luckily, there are several restaurants such as MásQMenos, Five Guys, and Café & Tapas. Plus, the food court at the Plaza Mayor is a 1 minute walk away.

Getting to the Málaga shopping center is easy, too! Hop on the C1 Cercanias train, and stop at Plaza Mayor Station. Or, take the number 5 bus from the Alameda Principal to Stop number 2267. (Scan the QR codes at the bus stop to confirm bus stops and travel times.)

This Málaga outlet mall is open Monday–Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. (Always double-check hours before visiting on a Sunday, as opening hours often depend on the season.)

11. El Corte Inglés Málaga

El Corte Inglés, the iconic Spanish department store is a must-visit in Málaga. With its impressive facade and central location minutes from Old Town on Av. de Andalucía, you’ll surely come across it!

Step inside, and explore a world of renowned brands across fashion, cosmetics, housewares, technology, sports gear, appliances, and more.

Aside from shopping, this Málaga department store has food, too! At the basement level, you’ll discover a large grocery store with both local favorites and international imports you can’t find anywhere else.

Don’t miss the Gourmet Experience on the 6th floor, either. Indulge in a coffee or refreshing cocktail at the rooftop bar while admiring the Málaga cityscape. Cheers to that!

Oh, and here’s a hot tip for you: mark your calendar for the January and July sales at El Corte Inglés. That’s when you’ll find incredible discounts on almost everything in the store!

El Corte Inglés is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

Make sure to include El Corte Inglés in your Málaga adventure. It’s not just a department store—it’s a destination that offers endless shopping and an unforgettable rooftop experience.

12. Centro Comercial Rosaleda

If you’re staying north of the city center, such as in the Capucchinos neighborhood, plan to walk (or scooter) over to La Rosaleda shopping mall. As a perk, you’ll pass the Rosaleda soccer stadium on the way.

Here, you can find a few Spanish and European fashion retailers like Decathlon, Cazeldonia, and Primor along with lots of smaller specialty shops and all the major cell phone carriers. 

They’ve also got a reasonably-priced hair salon near the entrance to the Carrefour. It’s best to make an appointment so you don’t use valuable vacation time waiting in line.

The mall has limited dining options, with your best bets being Mcdonald’s, 100 Montaditos, and Pomodoro (which has a few gluten-free pizza options, by the way).

A big draw of the mall is the large Carrefour, which is often called the French version of Walmart. Stock up for your time in Málaga on food, pharmacy items, kitchen, clothing, and more.

La Rosaleda is open daily in the summer and on holidays (9 am – 10 pm) but otherwise closed on Sundays.

13. Centro Comercial Los Patios

Centro Comercial Los Patios is a small open-air complex. It offers a basic mix of clothing and electronics stores, as well as a variety of eateries, a hypermarket, and a dedicated kids’ play area.

Featuring around 40 stores, Los Patios does have a few well-known brands like C&A and Parfois (for trendy accessories). Moreover, it houses essential services like a hairdresser (Marco Aldany), an optician (miOptico), and a veterinary clinic (Cantas)—good for digital nomads and expats.

The complex itself has lovely Andalusian and Málaga-inspired architecture. Just walking around, you’ll find Mediterranean vegetation and inviting recreational spaces for singletons and families alike.

Operating from 10 am to 10 pm every day, Centro Comercial Los Patios ensures you have ample time to explore and shop at your convenience. If you’re traveling by public transportation, you can easily reach the center via bus line 31 or line 7, or take metro line 2 and get off at Palacio De Los Deportes.

Between a Carrefour, McDonald’s, pharmacy, and excellent proximity to the airport, Los Patios is an ideal stop after picking up your rental car or before embarking on a road trip.

14. Málaga Factory/Parque Comercial Málaga Nostrum

Factory Outlet Málaga, together with Parque Comercial Málaga Nostrum, offers a range of Spanish retailers at discounted prices, making it a good place to score some deals.

From electronics and specialty stores to women’s shoes and accessories, Málaga Factory has quite the selection.

Home stores like Oh!Gar and Tramas provide additional shopping options, while German-based TEDi adds hours of fun with its wide variety of housewares, gift items, decorations, toys, and more, all for just a few euros.

El Corte Inglés Outlet is a favorite Málaga shopping outlet, drawing locals and visitors seeking quality products at discounted prices.

Well-known brands like Mango, Desigual, and Parfois are also at this Málaga mall.

When hunger strikes, the shopping center offers a small food selection. 100 Montaditos, Belros, Burger King, and VIPS are your best bet.

Lastly, you can catch the latest movies at the onsite movie theater.

Factory Outlet Málaga operates from Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 10 pm. It’s usually open on Sundays during the summer and other festive periods.

Getting to the shopping complex is convenient as it’s only a 15-minute drive from central Málaga with free parking available. Alternatively, you can easily access the shopping center using one of 10 different bus lines!

While Málaga Factory may not be a must-visit if you have limited time, it’s worth considering if you’re spending an extended period in the area and need some home goods.

15.  Málaga Plaza

With just a handful of stores, Centro Comercial Málaga Plaza is reminiscent of the many once-vibrant shopping malls in the United States. 

Situated right next to El Corte Inglés in central Málaga, services including 24-hour parking, ATMs, and restrooms seem to be a bigger draw than the stores.

That being said, this small shopping center in Málaga does have a nice architectural design with natural light flooding in from the skylight.

Highlights of Málaga Plaza include Goiko, a popular burger joint, and TEDi, a German variety store that adds a touch of fun to your shopping experience.

The shopping mall occasionally hosts events. Check the schedule, or stop by during the Christmas holidays for music and special events.
